Build your Future: Discover the Trades for our Second Annual Trades Fair

This event is made possible by the strong support of local trade unions, businesses, post-secondary institutions, and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. It offers a unique opportunity for community members, students, and parents to discover the wide array of rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

"We’re eager for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to explore exciting career paths right here in our region,” says Karyn Bruneel, Director of Education for the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board. “There’s a growing demand for skilled workers, and we believe that early and consistent exposure to these opportunities is key to inspiring students to consider the trades as a viable and fulfilling post-secondary option.”

During the school day, students will experience hands-on activities and interact with industry experts, gaining valuable insights into various trades and career pathways. Trades Fair Coordinator, Nonara Henhoeffer, adds, “The apprenticeship pathway is a fantastic option for many students, and we are thrilled to bring together unions, businesses, and colleges to show both students and community members just how diverse and accessible the trades can be. Our goal is to expand awareness of career possibilities, education requirements, and steps to enter the field.”

Confirmed partners include Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Conestoga College, Painters and Allied Trades International Union, United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 2222, Ironworkers Local 736, CUSW, Millwrights Local 1592, LiUNA 1059, Sheet Metal Workers Local 473, Hydro One, Makwa Cahil, Larsen & Shaw, and Ontario Equipment.
